Behind the scenes with Balblair



Adrift Visuals recently had the amazing opportunity to work on a large-scale campaign with Balblair, a distillery located in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. The team headed up to Inverness to capture the entire whisky production process, from distilling to bottling. The shoot took place over the course of four days, and included various locations throughout the distillery, from the office and shop to the distillery rooms and barrel rooms, where some whisky is aged for over 30 years.


Working in collaboration with London-based agency YesMore and the marketing team at Balblair, Adrift Visuals took on the challenge of capturing the delicate whisky distilling process in difficult locations, complicated machinery and tight shooting angles. The Adrift team had to be mindful of their surroundings and the technical procedures involved in the process, while still being able to capture visually stunning content.


Despite the challenges, the team was able to create a warm and contrasty feeling in the final product, which perfectly complemented the Balblair brand. They took on all of the post-production work, including editing of multiple video cutdowns and social edits as well as image processing and web optimisation.



Balblair has a rich history, dating back to 1790. The distillery is located in Edderton, Ross-shire, near the coast of the Dornoch Firth. The brand prides itself on producing single malt whisky that is distilled in small batches, and aged in oak casks. Their whisky has a distinct taste and aroma that is unmatched by other brands.


The Scottish Highlands are a breathtakingly beautiful region, with a landscape that includes rugged mountains, rolling hills, and vast lochs. The distillery is located in a particularly picturesque area, with views of the Fyrish Monument and the Cromarty Firth.





Working with the team at Balblair was an incredible experience for Adrift Visuals. The workers at the distillery were amazing and helpful, and the technical procedures involved in whisky production were motivating. The team was able to capture the essence of the Balblair brand, and create a campaign that truly showcased the beauty and intricacy of the whisky production process.


Overall, the Balblair shoot was a wonderful experience, and Adrift Visuals is proud to have been a part of it. They look forward to future collaborations with Balblair, and other brands that share their passion for creating visually stunning and emotionally resonant content.
